Been wondering about those big propeller blades being carried by trucks?

Those large propeller blades you have been seeing carried on large semi trucks, are the blades for giant wind turbines out in the western part of the state.  The Texas State Energy Conservation Office has a good article on Texas Wind Energy, its use and impact on the state.  These things are really large.  While promising, there seems to be a debate about how much work there is to be done in this area to make them financially competitive with other forms of energy.  The idea of a energy-independent Texas has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?  I wonder if our utility bills would go down then?  One can always hope so....
